Every year, as 2 December approaches, offices across the country fill with flags, scarves and gifts in red, green, white and black. Eid Al Etihad, UAE National Day, is one of the warmest moments in the corporate calendar. And every year, some of those gifts arrive a week late.
The fix is simple: plan backwards. Start from the day you want gifts in people’s hands, and work back through each step.
And the dates to hit if you want branded gifts on time.
- Decide budget, quantity and who receives what.
- Choose the gifts and share your logo or artwork.
- Approve the visual. Production usually starts once this is signed off.
- Branding and packing, with names or notes if you are personalising.
- Delivery to your office or straight to recipients.
- Eid Al Etihad. Gifts in hands, flags up.
Timings are a general guide for branded items; simple items can be faster, custom-made items take longer. Greyed-out dates have already passed.
1Colour with care
The national colours are the obvious choice, and they’re beautiful when used with restraint. A gift in your own brand colours, with a touch of red, green, white and black in a ribbon, sleeve or card, often feels more thoughtful than one covered in flags. It celebrates the day and still looks like it came from you.
Respect the flag: if you use the UAE flag itself, keep its proportions and colours correct and never place logos or text over it.
2Gifts that suit the occasion
National Day is about pride, community and togetherness, so gifts that people use during the celebrations work especially well: scarves and caps for the day itself, reusable bottles and tote bags for outdoor events, desk items and dates or sweets for the office. For clients, a premium, locally inspired gift with a personal message lands better than a generic hamper.
The best National Day gifts say two things at once: we are proud to be here, and we thought about you.
3Think about the whole team
Many companies use the day to thank staff as much as clients. Matching items for the team, such as a scarf or cap worn together on the day, create great photos and a real sense of belonging. Order a few extra for new joiners and visitors.
4The message matters most
A short note, written for the occasion, turns any gift into a gesture. Thank people for being part of your story in the UAE. Keep it warm and simple, and send it in English and Arabic if your audience is mixed.
- Plan backwards from 2 December: around five weeks for branded gifts is comfortable.
- Use the national colours with restraint, alongside your own.
- Treat the flag with respect: correct, uncluttered, never overprinted.
- Remember your own team, and write a real message.
